Rhode Island Environmental
Education Association

On November 10, we had our annual Youth Leadership Retreat at Rhode Island College. RIEEA staff and Peer Mentors from last year’s Youth Leadership Program provided training and supported connections among youth from schools and organizations across Rhode Island. Youth will be working with their local school or organizational communities throughout the school year on environmental education-focused projects. Along with the training provided during the retreat, RIEEA will provide some monetary support to each group. Thank you to our generous sponsors and host for supporting our work to build the future environmental educators of Rhode Island.

The 2024 Youth Leadership Retreat, an annual event hosted by the Rhode Island Environmental Education Association (RIEEA), will take place all day (10am-4pm) on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

This event is free for Rhode Island youth ages 14 through 20. Lunch will be provided and transportation costs will be fully reimbursed.

RIEEA’s Youth Leadership Retreat is planned and facilitated by youth who have attended this event in the past. It focuses on bringing young people together so we can connect, get to know one another, and learn from each other. Our goal is to inspire and build the capacity of a diverse and representative group of young people to become leaders and advocates for environmental justice in their communities through environmental education.

Our youth retreats include skill-building, fun activities, reflection time, and a chance to inspire one other to make a difference in our communities.
