This month we are welcoming some new wonderful members to our board to help us make decisions about the future of RIEEA. We are excited to have these new members on our board! Read on to learn more about each of them!
Andrew Broccolo (he/they)
Sustainability Analyst & Renewable Energy Project Designer, RISE Engineering
Andrew Broccolo is the Sustainability Analyst and Renewable Energy System Designer at RISE Engineering where they are responsible for implementing internal sustainability programs and designing renewable energy projects for commercial, non-profit, and municipal entities. As a 2020 URI Energy Fellow, Andrew worked with the City of Providence’s Office of Sustainability in supporting their RepowerPVD energy challenge program and developing content for the URI Cooperative Extension’s Plugged into Energy lecture series. A major focus of Andrew’s educational and working experiences has been sustainable development, seeking to bridge the perceived divide between the natural and built environments to create a more cohesive existence with ecosystems. This passion led Andrew to incorporate Queer Ecology into his graduate studies and realize his connection(s) to Nature and society as a queer person. His greatest motivators are his family and friends that are family.
Madison Burke-Hindle (she/her)
Education and Outreach Manager, Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation
Madison Burke-Hindle is the Education and Outreach Manager for Rhode Island Resource Recovery which manages the state’s Central Landfill and Materials Recycling Facility. Madison is responsible for developing statewide programs on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting and proper disposal which are provided at no cost to RI schools, community groups and organizations. Madison enjoys connecting with Rhode Islanders to discuss what happens to their stuff when they are done with it and recently launched RI’s new waste sorting game titled “Ready, Set, Sort!” which is a fun and interactive way for residents of all ages to learn how to dispose of their waste properly. In her spare time, Madison can be found outside hiking and visiting local beaches.
