Meet Amanda Peavey, one of RIEEA’s new board members of 2024! 
Amanda is the Education Director at the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC), where she’s been working since 2021. The WRWC is a nonprofit working to restore and revitalize the Woonasquatucket River and its accompanying Greenway, as well as the surrounding communities.
Q&A
What’s your favorite outdoor place in Rhode Island, and why?
Colt State Park. I love to walk my dog there.
How did you get involved in the environmental field?
I’ve always had an interest in nature and that interest only grew as I got older! Learning about the environment truly started in high school at Bristol County Agricultural High School, where I graduated from the Natural Resources Department.
What’s your favorite environmental fact to share?
I can only list one?! Tardigrades, AKA water bears, can survive in so many different environments, including space!
Why did you become a RIEEA board member?
I’ve always loved the RIEEA community for the way that everyone supports each other. The group is extremely inviting. Being a board member not only provides me with a new learning experience, but also gives me the opportunity to share what I love with more people.
I’m really looking forward to learning more about RIEEA, making new connections, and supporting love for the environment.
