Meet RIEEA board member Cynthia (Cindy) Corsair! She works as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Cindy has been involved with RIEEA since 2014 and on the board since 2015. She currently serves as our Secretary and we appreciate her attention to detail!
What’s your favorite outdoor place in Rhode Island, and why?
I love Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge. It’s my go to spot to hike with my kids and we even took maternity photos there!
How did you get involved with the environmental field?
I always loved animals and thought I would go the veterinary route until I took an environmental science class my senior year of high school and was fascinated by the material. I also grew up camping and hiking with my family and Girl Scout troop. The wildlife conservation and biology field perfectly merged my love for animals and the outdoors. I went on to pursue a B.S. and M.S. from URI and landed an internship with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service during college – the rest is history!
What’s your favorite environmental fact to share?
I love to tell people about one of my favorite species (and our state insect!), the American burying beetle. There are so many cool facts to share about their life history.
What has been your favorite memory of working with RIEEA?
There are so many! I have loved every opportunity we’ve had to connect and spend time together in the outdoors.
