Hello! My name is Kevin Carter (he/him). I am a rising Junior at Brown University, concentrating in Environmental Studies on the Environment and Inequality track. I was born and raised in the south suburbs of the Chicagoland area. I grew up with a fascination and love for nature, and this passion in conjunction with my experience in a youth climate change initiative group during high school has influenced my current path toward environmental work.
This summer, I will be working alongside RIEEA as an iProv Fellow. Essentially, this is an 8-10 week internship through Brown that is meant to help me develop professional skills and gain experience while working for a local non-profit organization. During my internship at RIEEA, some of the things I will be doing include but are not limited to:
- Drafting an organizational advocacy policy
- Conducting research on the work of member organizations and other relevant local organizations to inform RIEEA policy and expand RIEEA’s network
- Developing ideas to help community members stay informed on legislation and grassroots efforts
I am excited to work with RIEEA and its members to promote policy and grassroots work that will improve the state of environmental education in Rhode Island.
